What’s your WHY? Who cares? Why does it matter now? with Stephen Cook of V. Purposeful Strategy
Stephen Cook is a highly experienced Strategist and optimist (and depending on who you talk to, ‘some bloke in a hat’, business consultant, maverick, curious mind, leadership confidante, creative, growth catalyst, visionary, change agent, story maker, sweary git and truth teller).
He prefers to think of himself as an ideas guy, a compeller of people, a writer and a jazz sax wizard (which he isn’t). He also, oddly, likes to write his own biog in the third person.
Through his proprietary methodology, Future Conduct, Stephen creates the vision, purpose and propositions, the strategic contexts, leadership advocacy, business cases for investment, innovation engines and change strategies that define Optimum Future Organisation’s, their interactions with people and the mechanisms necessary to achieve these.
In a career spanning 35 years, Stephen has defined visionary and compelling organisation futures across most market and industry sectors, for global enterprises, rapid growth start-ups, 3rd and public sector organisations, institutions, government departments and societal initiatives – in the UK, EU and internationally. His work has informed whole organisation transformation, culture change, operational change, business re-modelling, propositions change and development, mergers and acquisitions, geography expansion and entire market behaviours.
In all his work, Stephen never loses sight of the most important question of all, ‘Why?’ – or more importantly, ‘Why not?’. His focus is always on the human condition and the behavioural mechanisms that make organisation’s stand for something vital and inspire audiences and participators to believe in them and interact with them.

‘Often girls’ clothes are pink, cute and impractical. They promote kindness, but not always confidence. And boys’ clothes are often blue, aggressive and adventure seeking. They promote confidence, but not always kindness. I wanted to bring these two characteristics together and allow all children, no matter what their gender, to celebrate both kindness and confidence.’ – Sally Dear, Founder of Ducky Zebra
