The Lambourn Abingdon: Hybrid Working & Wellbeing
We launched The Lambourn in Abingdon in March just as lockdown happened. It was a slow start for the building but we now have happy tenants in the building who are pleased to be back in the workplace.
Before we opened, we had a look around Abingdon and the surrounding area and identified that there weren’t many business spaces where people could work on an ad-hoc basis, where they could take smaller serviced office space or co-working space. When we went into lockdown, we thought really hard about what people might want moving forward, what the workspace would look like, what people would need as they gradually came out of their homes and got back into the workplace.
We identified a hybrid option that would allow people to continue to work from home, and have the option to work in office space for however many days a week they need. We launched our Home-Flexi option which allows people on a monthly rolling basis to choose how many days they want to work in the space, only paying for what they need. Giving them ultimate flexibility, without the pressure of a long-term commitment.
It’s good for people’s wellbeing to have that choice and flexibility, especially if they are struggling to work from home. Some people are used to working from home whilst others aren’t. Working in an office helps boost team collaboration and productivity. People can have use of the meeting rooms where measures have been put in place so that they can meet and work safely.
At The Lambourn, we have three floors of larger office space which are ideal for larger occupiers that are perhaps looking to downsize from larger headquarters to a smaller wing, with the ability to use the space as they see fit – perhaps they’ll have their own Reception, meeting rooms etc. They can space plan their offices to suit their needs. A lot of larger companies are looking at flexible working patterns and how they can offer more flexibility to their staff. Rather than taking on big buildings with long leases, they are looking at smaller, more dynamic space.
