Bike Oxford partners with B4 to promote active travel across the region
Breathingspace, the outdoor events agency behind the hugely popular sportives Bike Oxford, Bike Bath and The Canterbury Bike Ride, has teamed up with Oxfordshire’s B4 network in support of 2021’s Bike Oxford event.
After a Covid-affected 2020, the 2021, the event offers cyclists the opportunity to start and finish at either Oxford University Rugby Club or Chipping Norton Rugby Club, with a medal and food from local suppliers at either event village included in the ticket price.
We are very pleased to announce the support of the B4 network set up by Richard Rosser, who said “We are delighted to offer our support for this fantastic event which will no doubt be a wonderful opportunity to put the myriad of challenges behind us all, meet up with old friends and enjoy the countryside…fingers crossed the sun is shining for what promises to be a great day. Breathingspace are a wonderful organisation who put on superb events which in turn provide much needed support to local charities. We couldn’t be happier to be involved and thanks to Breathspace for the 15% discount code for B4 members”.
This year, the Bike Oxford team anticipate over 1,000 cyclists in total will ride one of three signposted rides out of each start location of about 25, 50 or 80 miles around the spectacular Oxfordshire countryside, with refreshments supplied by local businesses. These local businesses are central to the success of Bike Oxford. In recent years Marshall Skoda dealership, Kidlington, Hook Norton brewers, Oxford Fine Food and many others have lent their support to the event.
“The idea behind Bike Oxford has always been to provide something for everyone,” said Jacko Jackson, Event Director of Bike Oxford. “This year we look forward to welcoming riders from the B4 community and encourage them to promote their own initiatives around active travel, particularly as many people return to work after Covid restrictions lift. The short route in particular is designed with families, new cyclists, and new cycle-commuters looking to spend an enjoyable day trying out cycling for leisure in mind”.
This year, Oxford-based Helen and Douglas House is Bike Oxford’s supported charity, but all charities are invited to take part and use the event as a fundraiser. So far, teams from charities including Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, Archway Foundation, Restore, Ox Eyes and many more have already entered teams.
Jacko continued, “We provide a package for corporate teams and charities looking to offer sponsored places to employees and supporters. Last year, our riders supported 26 separate charities both individually and through charity-organised entry. We’d encourage any businesses and charities looking to support their employees to get fit or raise money to get in touch”.

A Growing Desire for Better Business
The Better Business Ecosystem is raising awareness and showcasing the wide variety of ways businesses can have a more positive impact on society, communities and the environment, by embedding great business practices across their companies.
Why joining a community of business leaders can enhance your reputation and credibility
I read a LinkedIn post recently that reassured business owners that if they’d managed to keep their businesses going during recession, Brexit, COVID and the cost-of-living crisis that they deserved a huge pat on the back and shouldn’t ‘beat themselves up’. Easier said than done when costs are rising and doing business seems to get harder rather than easier, but the sentiment was well-placed.
Why it’s important for Business Leaders to be exposed to new...
Nobody likes a ‘know it all’ and let’s face it, there’s no such thing. At the other end of the scale, many of us don’t create enough time to take on board new ideas, innovation and creativity in whatever format. How many times have you been recommended to read a book, get sent the link, go on Amazon, maybe even buy it but it just sits on your bookshelf? Come to think of it, as an aside, just think about that for a second….I wonder what the actual percentage of books purchased are actually read? Frightening thought!
