Boost for Bicester’s economy and jobs with more investment at Axis J9 business park
Albion Land commits to Phase 3 with plans which will be welcomed by expanding young and mid-sized businesses
More high-value jobs could be coming to Bicester as plans for the third and final phase of the Axis J9 business park on Middleton Stoney Road are submitted to Cherwell District Council.
Albion Land, the developers of Axis J9, are specifically aiming to provide space for dynamic young businesses who want to be in Bicester as well as mid-sized and expanding companies looking for space to grow.
The ambition is to make Axis J9 an even stronger mix of manufacturing, technology and logistics businesses and to create a business park which fosters entrepreneurial and commercial success.
Simon Parsons, Director at Albion Land, says:
“We’re investing in Axis J9 to create jobs, great quality commercial space and a vibrant commercial culture that benefits Bicester businesses. In our third and final phase of development, we very much want to provide units for smaller companies that are seeking to grow. Demand outstripped supply for this type of space in phase one so this is a great opportunity to ensure phase three matches with what the market needs and, most importantly, with what Bicester businesses require to succeed and thrive.”
Construction of Axis J9 started in 2019 and 14 business units have been built in phase one and phase two or are nearing completion.
All of the buildings are zero carbon and, across the development, there is a strong emphasis on the highest standards of sustainability.
To keep local stakeholders and the community updated, Albion Land is issuing a leaflet with details on the phase three proposals and more information about the businesses that have chosen to call Axis J9 home so far. These include a wide variety of companies operating in industrial, manufacturing and logistics sectors – from Arrival (a pioneering software and electric vehicle manufacturer) to Origin Doors (the UK’s leading specialist manufacturer of bespoke aluminium bi-folding doors and windows).
Phase three is a planning application for a potential further 11 new units.
The application has been submitted to Cherwell District Council and is anticipated to be published on the Council’s planning portal shortly.
Albion Land
Albion Land is a major investor into Bicester and, in addition to Axis J9, has brought forward successful developments (or is currently working on site) at Link 9 (Skimmingdish Lane) and Catalyst Bicester.
