MP Officially Opens new Surgery at Hanborough Gate
MP Robert Courts officially opened the new Hanborough Gate Surgery at a special ceremony on Friday.
The Member of Parliament for Witney & West Oxfordshire joined doctors and staff at the new surgery, along with representatives from Pye Homes, at the event which had to be delayed due to covid restrictions.
The new surgery, which was built by Pye Homes as part of the new Hanborough Gate development, is approximately twice the size of the old Long Hanborough Surgery, with six consulting rooms along with a number of treatment rooms.
It also features a pharmacy on the ground floor with a state of the art ‘robot’ to dispense medication more efficiently.
“The surgery is another fantastic example of what can be achieved when developers and local people come together to create vibrant new communities,” said MP Robert Courts.
“The facilities here allow the doctors to see more patients and provide even better levels of treatment and care in a purpose-built surgery designed to serve the community for many years to come,” he added.
The complex was built using energy-efficient construction methods and includes modern offices and facilities for the staff, as well as a meeting room and ample parking for patients.
Pye Homes also had to reinforce the pharmacy floor to accommodate a one-tonne robot, which automates the storage, dispensing, return, restocking and crediting of medications.
Graham Flint, MD Pye Homes, said: “We are really proud of what we have achieved with the Hanborough Surgery, it is a community facility that has been widely acclaimed.
“We promised the community we were going to improve their facilities, which is exactly what we have done with this new surgery,” he added.
The state-of-the-art surgery opened in March and has been among the highest vaccinating sites in Oxfordshire.
Dr Neil Rust, Senior Partner, Eynsham Medical Practice, said: “The surgery has transformed our working, it has lifted everyone’s spirits and given us more space and light and it has made it easier to respond to the demands of the growing population and the pandemic.
“Blenheim and Pye Homes were excellent, they listened to our comments and allowed us to contribute actively in the process,” he added.
The Hanborough Gate development features a selection of one, two, three- and four-bedroom homes to the western side of Long Hanborough.
A total of 169 homes will have been built by the end 2021 which include help to buy, shared ownership and affordable rent options in partnership with Blenheim Estate Homes.
About Pye Homes
For almost a century, Pye Homes have continued to take the same pride in the homes and communities they have built in Oxfordshire. Although many things have changed in that time, their values have stayed the same, because so much of what was true then is still true today. That way, you know your home is made for life.
By combining the best innovations with designs and materials that have stood the test of time, we build in harmony with nature and the local legacy, so that new homes simply belong as part of a community, right from the start.
That same regard for legacy has led us to join with Blenheim and to make our commitment to their Legacy Principles. Together we share a desire for progress alongside a deep-rooted sense of place and enduring connection to our neighbours and local communities.

Why joining a community of business leaders can enhance your reputation and credibility
I read a LinkedIn post recently that reassured business owners that if they’d managed to keep their businesses going during recession, Brexit, COVID and the cost-of-living crisis that they deserved a huge pat on the back and shouldn’t ‘beat themselves up’. Easier said than done when costs are rising and doing business seems to get harder rather than easier, but the sentiment was well-placed.
Why it’s important for Business Leaders to be exposed to new...
Nobody likes a ‘know it all’ and let’s face it, there’s no such thing. At the other end of the scale, many of us don’t create enough time to take on board new ideas, innovation and creativity in whatever format. How many times have you been recommended to read a book, get sent the link, go on Amazon, maybe even buy it but it just sits on your bookshelf? Come to think of it, as an aside, just think about that for a second….I wonder what the actual percentage of books purchased are actually read? Frightening thought!
