Oxford School of Hospitality Management listed as top in the UK
The Oxford School of Hospitality Management, part of Oxford Brookes Business School, is the only UK hospitality school listed in the top ten Best Hospitality and Hotel Management Schools in the World for 2021.
Compiled by CEOWORLD magazine, the rankings look at 55 hospitality schools and hotels across the world. The Oxford School of Hospitality Management is one of just three UK hospitality schools to make the list and ranks as number 7 in the world.
Professor Tim Vorley, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Oxford Brookes Business School said: “It’s great to get this recognition for the quality of the teaching and research at The Oxford School of Hospitality Management. Our close links to hospitality, events and tourism partners really help our students to get practical, real-life experience and a global outlook, which has led many of our graduates to highly successful international careers.”
CEOWORLD magazine surveyed 186,350 graduates, industry professionals, employers and recruiters on areas such as admission eligibility, specialisation, academic reputation and job placement rates.
Future of courses will include focus on tourism
Claire Jones, Programme Lead for International Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University added: “We continue to work closely with our industry partners, many of whom are alumni of our programmes, to bring industry opportunities and challenges into the classroom and all of our students connect to an industry leader through our Bacchus Mentoring programme.
“Following a recent review, our undergraduate programme includes a greater emphasis on the tourism context of hospitality management, with new modules in analytics and business planning and increased focus on issues of ethics and sustainability.”
Students will be equipped for challenges brought about by COVID-19
COVID-19 has brought about unprecedented challenges for the hospitality industry. Programme Lead Dr Peter Szende says the Oxford School of Hospitality Management recognises this and will equip students to navigate the future of the industry.
“We are proud to perform strongly in the national and global rankings. At the same time, we cannot rest on our laurels.
“To recognize the economic impact of the pandemic on tourism, hospitality, and events, we’ll review emerging sector trends and engage in a comprehensive curriculum review. Our goal is to ensure that students pursuing our post-graduate degrees will acquire not only key competencies but also those critical transferable skills which can be applied to a wide range of career paths.”
