Positive Steps With Cheryl Lee-Foulsham of Oxford Duplication Centre
The past 4 months have been an incredible challenge, not to mention a worrying time for all businesses.
I have witnessed, sadly, friends’ businesses close, some going into receivership and others, fortunately, growing stronger through this time. Having grown my business through the last recession, I have used that experience to ensure the stability of my business.
Here are my Positive Steps:
Communication: It has been essential to ensure the confidence of my staff remains as high as possible. With this in mind, we all decided, during lock-down, to communicate using WhatsApp to discuss work concerns or just simply to be kept up to date on what is happening. In July, when the team returned back to work, they all felt confident that, although work was quieter, we are a team and we will all pull together and get through this.
Marketing: It became apparent quite early on that existing and prospective new clients needed to understand that we were open for business. It was therefore vital to ensure that all daily marketing was based around our new opening times and building client confidence in our business and brand. This worked very well for us.
New Ideas: During April, the time away from business was useful in gathering information about new areas of potential growth. I used this time to develop Data Recovery which actually proved valuable during lockdown with orders coming in from direct marketing which we were able to process immediately in-house.
Spring Clean: During April and May we embarked on an awful lot of cleaning, servicing and maintenance. Always looking to the future and new opportunities, when the staff returned they were greeted with a more efficient and ‘work compatible’ office environment and garden so they felt safe and confident.
Customer base: From day one our clients have always been our number one priority. All clients with orders in process were kept up to date as to the status of their order. With total transparency and honesty clients were not left feeling uncomfortable about where their valuable or precious orders were. It was great to receive many 5***** reviews praising our efficiency during such a difficult and challenging period.
