Pye Homes Blenheim Builds State-of-the-Art Doctors’ Surgery at Hanborough Gate

Pye Homes Blenheim has completed work on a brand new surgery and pharmacy at its Hanborough Gate development.

The state-of-the-art facility is the first to have been constructed by the Kidlington-based firm, and will open its doors to patients on Monday, 8th March. The new site is approximately twice the size of the old Long Hanborough Surgery, which it replaces, with six consulting rooms along with a number of treatment rooms.

It also features a pharmacy on the ground floor with a state of the art ‘robot’ to dispense medication efficiently. The complex was built using energy-efficient construction methods and includes modern offices and facilities for the staff, as well as a meeting room and ample outside parking for patients.

“This is a first for us and we are extremely proud to be working with the NHS to create a modern and welcoming GP surgery,” said Pye Homes Blenheim’s MD Graham Flint.

“The building has a timber frame and features laminated internal beams which dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of the construction. It also has a very high rating on the Energy Performance Certificate, just one point off an A rating,” he added.

Willis Court is the first surgery Pye Homes Blenheim has built and architect Rob Fairfield worked closely with GPs from the Eynsham Medical Group during the design and construction process.

To streamline the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination programme, Rob altered the surgery’s design to allow patients to have their vaccine and leave without having to go through the reception.

The team also had to reinforce the pharmacy floor to accommodate the one-tonne robot, which automates the storage, dispensing, return, restocking and crediting of medications.

“The new surgery and pharmacy is significantly larger than our former site and has been designed to provide patients with a much better overall experience,” said Dr Neil Rust, from the Eynsham Medical Group. It has been a great opportunity for collaboration between the NHS and Pye Homes Blenheim for the benefit of the community.

“The additional space, consulting and treatment rooms, along with the automated dispensing services, new office space and meeting room will allow us to treat more patients, more quickly and in much more welcoming surroundings,” he added.

The surgery forms part of the Hanborough Gate development, which features a selection of one, two, three- and four-bedroom homes to the western side of Long Hanborough.

A total of 169 homes will be built by the end 2021 which include help to buy, shared ownership and affordable rent options in partnership with Blenheim Estate Homes.

There will be an official opening ceremony for the new surgery once COVID restrictions are relaxed.

About Pye Homes Blenheim
For almost a century, Pye Homes Blenheim have continued to take the same pride in the homes and communities they have built in Oxfordshire. Although many things have changed in that time, their values have stayed the same, because so much of what was true then is still true today. That way, you know your home is made for life.

By combining the best innovations with designs and materials that have stood the test of time, we build in harmony with nature and the local legacy, so that new homes simply belong as part of a community, right from the start.

That same regard for legacy has led us to join with Blenheim and to make our commitment to their Legacy Principles. Together we share a desire for progress alongside a deep-rooted sense of place and enduring connection to our neighbours and local communities.
