Stepnell shows healthcare expertise with hospital wins
Complete construction partner Stepnell has demonstrated its expertise in building for the healthcare sector with several significant projects across its southern region.
The contractor is undertaking a trio of refurbishment projects for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) as well as significant building, mechanical and electrical (M&E) works for Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
Refurbishment works at OUH are centred around the upgrade of machines and estates enabling works, which are being carried out by Stepnell at the Sterile Services department at the Horton Hospital, Nuffield Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital.
The works at Salisbury Hospital form part of a recently appointed 12-month contract for the building and M&E works, with the first project involving the refurbishment and decoration of the finance and trust offices – which includes the strip out and replacement of flooring and complete redecoration works.
Rob Speirs, regional director at Stepnell said: “It has been a busy period for the southern region, and we’re delighted that so many projects in the healthcare sector have come forward in the last six months. These projects are a real illustration of the true breadth of the services Stepnell offers, spanning from modular construction to significant adaptations of historic buildings, to M&E and ongoing refurbishments.
“Stepnell prides itself on being the complete construction partner, and our healthcare specialists have the expertise to truly understand what needs doing and how to make best use of the spaces they work with to ensure the highest quality of finish for the end user.”
A spokesperson from Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: “The Decorators & Carpet Fitters were exceptional. They completed the job faster than anticipated, undertaking a brilliant job with a smile on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they tirelessly worked around our schedules, always keeping us informed.”
Joanne Clarkson, project manager at OUH, said: “Stepnell is doing the enabling works for our Sterile Services upgrades and the project teams has been a pleasure to work with.”
The healthcare sector is one of Stepnell’s core areas of expertise, providing a range of patient and service-led solutions to sensitively delivering care projects from hospitals and medical centres to specialist care home facilities.
Stepnell’s southern team has also recently started on site at a new £9.7 million independent living community for over 60s in Wooburn Green, High Wycombe. Due to complete in 2022, the four-storey building will include 44 high-specification apartments and a communal lounge to encourage socialisation among customers.
