The B4 Better Business Ecosystem
The B4 Better Business Ecosystem with Grant Hayward and Sam Kandiyali
The Better Business Ecosystem got underway last month – with a roundtable discussion at B4’s offices. B4’s growing ecosystems provide members with excellent support and insight into each other’s businesses. The idea is that this information can then be shared among the B4 network, building ‘better businesses’ for us all.
Key takeaways:
Challenges around understanding – what does better business / responsible business or purpose-led business really mean? A theme that’s replicated more widely and one that the working group, are keen to explore more. For now, it was agreed that in essence it’s about the good stuff we are doing, or aspire to do, to support our communities and the planet.
Barriers and opportunities to doing ‘better’ – insights revealed how external pressures and influences like investors, staff or customers all had an impact on how we run our organisations in terms of our purpose-led approach.
The power of people – discussing the role of better business in terms of teams, recruitment and culture. Anecdotes from the group’s members to support this included the implementation of a four day week, introduction of a culture club (not the 80s band!) and dedicated ‘me time’. More to come on these great initiatives.
Topics for future sessions will include:
- Tech; friend or foe for the better business? How technology can both enhance and enable better business practice, but also how it can be detrimental
- Better business is everyone’s business. How can small businesses embrace better business practices, how can B4 support organisations to get involved?
- What’s the measure of better? What tools, tips, techniques and support is available to help business measure their good work, set parameters for improvement?
If you would like to join our B4 Members to share thoughts, contributions or questions – do get in touch with the B4 team.
