What separates good performance from exceptional performance? How do the best teams prepare, adapt and respond when the pressure is on? And what can business leaders learn from those who operate in the demanding world of elite sport?

At our next Corum Quarterly, hosted by Silverstone Museum, we'll explore the lessons that connect professional sport with successful businesses, from leadership and resilience to teamwork, preparation and the relentless pursuit of improvement.

Bringing together four very different perspectives, our panel will share experiences from Formula 1, professional cricket, specialist engineering and executive leadership coaching.

Our panellists

• Rob Jaina – Director of Learning and Curation, Silverstone Museum. Drawing on extensive experience in motorsport, including marshalling, commentary and working alongside racing teams, Rob will explore the importance of preparation, precision and uncompromising standards.
• Sarah Jaycock – Director, High Spec Composites. Sarah's business manufactures high-specification carbon fibre components for Formula 1. She will offer a fascinating perspective on adaptability, engineering excellence and the importance of creating the right conditions for individuals to perform.
• Dr Emma Georgiou – Executive Coach and Leadership Development Consultant. Emma works with leaders and teams across motorsport and other complex organisations. Her Formula 1 experience includes work with leaders at Red Bull Racing and Haas F1 Team. She brings insights into leadership behaviour, communication, trust and sustaining high performance under pressure.
• Jack Brooks – Former Professional Cricketer. An Oxfordshire-born cricketer who turned professional at 24 and enjoyed a successful 16-year career, Jack brings firsthand experience of resilience, motivation, teamwork and performing at the highest level.

What we'll explore

From the smallest marginal gains to the biggest leadership challenges, we'll discuss how elite performers and organisations approach preparation, respond to setbacks, adapt to individual strengths and maintain exceptionally high standards.

Most importantly, we'll consider what these experiences mean for business leaders and what practical lessons they can take back to their own organisations.

Moderated by Richard Rosser, CEO of B4, the discussion will be conversational, thought-provoking and grounded in real experiences.

Phil Lawrie is CEO of Silverstone Museum and a Trustee of Silverstone Heritage Limited, joining the organisation in July 2023. An experienced international business leader, Phil oversees the Museum’s strategy, development, sustainability and operations. Prior to joining Silverstone, he spent 13 years with Qatar Museums, including as Chief Commercial Officer, and has held senior positions with globally recognised organisations including Al Jazeera Media Network, Turner Broadcasting System and American Express. Today, Phil leads Silverstone Museum as it continues to celebrate and preserve the remarkable heritage of British motor racing, while inspiring future generations through education, innovation and engaging visitor experiences.
