Abingdon & Witney College students are celebrating their Level 3 results today, with T Level students achieving a 95% pass rate, compared with the national pass rate of 92.6%. Impressively, students on ten vocational programmes, including five T Levels, achieved a 100% pass rate, with many also achieving Merit and Distinction grades.

Students across the College’s Abingdon, Witney and Common Leys Farm campuses collected their results today, celebrating their achievements and looking ahead to their next steps.

The positive results come across a wide range of Level 3 programmes, including T Levels, vocational qualifications and specialist technical and professional courses.

For students progressing to university, more than 73% of those who applied have already secured their first-choice place. Others are preparing to begin apprenticeships, enter employment or take their next steps into further training and new opportunities.

Among those celebrating is Simeon, who achieved a Distinction in T Level Mechanical Engineering. He particularly enjoyed the balance of theory and practical learning on the course, with the second year offering a strong focus on hands-on engineering.

“I’m really happy with my results. I was hoping and had a feeling I would get a Distinction, I worked hard for it, and the marks are higher than I expected, so I couldn’t ask for more.”

Simeon will now head to Aston University to continue studying Mechanical Engineering, with ambitions to work in automotive design.

“I’ve always loved cars, race cars, drift cars, all sorts of cars. I want to make high-performance car parts, it would be really cool to be able to design them.”

Owen, who also achieved a Distinction in T Level Mechanical Engineering, is looking towards a future in Agricultural Engineering. Having grown up on a farm, he is interested in designing the next generation of agricultural machinery.

Speaking about his ambitions, he said:

“I think it’s designing the next set of tractors that are coming out. So yeah, give it a few years and I might invent the new automated tractor or something, you know.”

For Sharon, who studied T Level Media, her time at College helped her discover a passion for creativity alongside developing valuable practical skills.

Sharon said she was particularly proud of her results and the work she had put into her course.

“I feel really happy with my grades. I’m satisfied with the work I put in and I’m proud of myself.”

From filming and working with cameras and lighting to taking part in an overseas trip, Sharon gained experience across a range of practical media projects.

“I didn’t really think I was good with creatives, but I gave it a go and I found out that was what I really liked.”

Sharon is now planning to take a gap year to work, save money and gain experience before pursuing a Level 4 or degree apprenticeship in media.

Sienna, meanwhile, achieved a Distinction in T Level Education & Early Years and will progress to the University of Chichester to study Primary Teaching.

Her practical placement in schools was a particularly valuable part of the course, allowing her to put what she had learned in the classroom into practice and confirming her ambitions for a career in education.

“It gave me an insight into the role I actually wanted to work in… it definitely made me know for sure that I was going down the right path. I’d learn things in class and then go into placement and I’d see what I’d been learning about actually happening before my eyes.”

The celebrations continued across the College as students gathered with friends, family and staff to mark the results they had worked towards throughout their studies.
