B4 Weekly: People, Culture, Innovation and Connection

7th Aug 2026

Welcome to B4 Weekly, our new round-up of the latest stories, insights and activity from across the B4 community.

One of the great strengths of B4 is the variety of expertise, experience and ideas within our community. Every week, our members and partners give us plenty to talk about – from leadership and technology to innovation, events and opportunities to connect.

B4 Weekly brings some of those conversations together in one place, providing a quick snapshot of what has been happening across B4 News and highlighting stories you may have missed.

This week’s edition is a particularly good example, with six articles spanning HR, AI, innovation, member news and two very different opportunities to bring the B4 community together.

Putting the Human Back into HR: Why Experience Matters More Than Ever

We began the week with an interview with Samantha Newton of Magenta HR, exploring why experience, judgement and human connection remain so important in HR.

As technology increasingly influences the workplace, Samantha’s perspective is a timely reminder that people issues rarely fit neatly into a process or template. Experience matters because businesses need advisers who understand not simply employment practice, but the people, personalities and commercial realities behind every decision.

The article also introduces Samantha and Magenta HR to the wider B4 community and explores the approach she has developed throughout her career.

AI Will Reflect Your Culture Back at You, for Better or Worse

AI continues to dominate business conversations, but our next article approached the subject from a slightly different direction.

Rather than asking what AI can do, “AI Will Reflect Your Culture Back at You, for Better or Worse” asks businesses to think about the environment into which they are introducing it.

Technology doesn’t operate independently of an organisation’s people, values and behaviours. If a business has strong communication, clear leadership and a healthy culture, AI has the potential to amplify those strengths. Equally, existing weaknesses can become much more visible.

It’s another reminder that successful AI adoption is as much a leadership and cultural challenge as it is a technology project.

Corum Six at Silverstone Museum

Connection remains at the heart of B4, and this week’s Corum Six at Silverstone Museum provided another opportunity to bring a small group of business leaders together in a very special setting.

The Corum format is deliberately intimate, creating the space for genuine conversation rather than conventional networking. Silverstone Museum provided an inspiring backdrop for discussions, new introductions and the sharing of experiences between those attending.

It’s exactly what Corum is designed to achieve: fewer people, better conversations and stronger relationships.

Members Spotlight: Elephants Child

Our latest Members Spotlight turned the attention to Elephants Child.

The Spotlight series gives us an opportunity to look beyond job titles and company descriptions and introduce the organisations and people who make up the B4 community.

Every B4 member has a story, expertise and experience that others can learn from. By shining a regular spotlight on members, we hope to help the wider community understand more about who they are, what they do and where opportunities for collaboration might exist.

Scaling Innovation: Why Oxford’s Next Chapter Matters

Few subjects are more important to Oxfordshire’s future than our ability to turn extraordinary ideas, research and intellectual property into successful, scalable organisations.

“Scaling Innovation: Why Oxford’s Next Chapter Matters” looks at the opportunity facing Oxford as its innovation ecosystem continues to develop.

Oxford has no shortage of ideas or talent. The bigger question is how we create the conditions that allow ambitious businesses to grow, attract investment, retain talent and build their futures here.

It is a conversation that extends far beyond the university or science and technology sectors. Successful innovation creates opportunities throughout the wider economy, making collaboration between businesses, investors, advisers, institutions and the broader community increasingly important.

Just 29 Places Remain for the Inaugural Oxfordshire Golf Challenge

We finish this week’s selection with an opportunity to swap the boardroom for the golf course.

There are now just 29 places remaining for the inaugural Oxfordshire Golf Challenge, bringing together members of Oxfordshire’s business community for a day of golf, conversation and relationship-building.

Like many B4 events, the objective goes beyond the event itself. Spending time together in a relaxed environment can create conversations and connections that simply don’t happen during a conventional meeting.

With places reducing, anyone hoping to take part is encouraged to secure their place soon.

And Don’t Forget OBS2027

This week’s B4 Weekly also includes a reminder about Early Bird tickets for the Oxfordshire Business Summit 2027 (OBS2027).

Early Bird tickets are currently £400 + VAT until 31 August 2026, after which the price increases to £450 + VAT.

OBS continues to bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, experts and organisations from across Oxfordshire and beyond to share ideas, challenge thinking and strengthen the connections that help our business community move forward.

A Week in the B4 Community

What links these six stories is something that has always been central to B4: people sharing experience, ideas and opportunities with other people.

Whether we’re discussing the human side of HR, the cultural implications of AI, Oxford’s innovation economy or simply bringing business leaders together at Silverstone or on the golf course, the objective is much the same – to help our community learn from one another and build better relationships.

B4 Weekly will bring together a selection of the latest B4 News every week, making it easier to catch up on stories you may have missed and discover the people, businesses and ideas shaping our community.

And if you’re a B4 Member with an insight, story, opinion or piece of expertise that you think the wider community would benefit from hearing, we’d love to hear from you.
