Just 29 Places Remain for the Inaugural Oxfordshire Golf Challenge

7th Aug 2026

The countdown is on.

On Monday 28th September 2026, 80 golfers will come together at Frilford Heath Golf Club for the inaugural Oxfordshire Golf Challenge – and with just 29 places now remaining, the two teams are rapidly taking shape.

The concept is simple:

Oxford City vs Oxfordshire County.
40 players a side.
One trophy.

Leading the teams will be two fantastic captains. Justin Merritt of Oxford City Football Club will captain Oxford City, while Ben Procter of Oxford Property Consulting will lead Oxfordshire County.

But here’s the important bit: you don’t need to enter a team.

You enter as an individual, choose your side and become part of either the City or County team for the day.

Some Great Oxfordshire Businesses Are Already Represented

We’re delighted by the response so far, with players joining us from across the Oxfordshire business community.

Organisations already represented include Wise Investment, Partners&, Darcica, Oxonian Capital, Aston & James, Aura, ODS, The Randolph Hotel, Planet Recruitment and Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, alongside a growing number of other Oxfordshire businesses.

It’s exactly what we hoped the Oxfordshire Golf Challenge would become: a fantastic mix of people and organisations coming together for a day of golf, friendly rivalry, business connections and fundraising.

And there are still 29 opportunities to join them.

More Than Just a Round of Golf

We want taking part in the Oxfordshire Golf Challenge to feel like you’ve genuinely been selected to represent your side. Every golfer will receive team kit and a team cap, along with branded golf balls and tees for the day.

Frilford Heath will be looking after players throughout, with breakfast on arrival, refreshments out on the course and a presentation meal after the golf.

And then, of course, there’s the small matter of deciding who wins. At the end of the day, the victorious captain will be presented with The Colin Rosser Cup, with the winning 40 players becoming the first team to lift the trophy.

Every player will also receive a commemorative souvenir of the inaugural Oxfordshire Golf Challenge to take away from the day.

Our ambition is to establish the Challenge as an annual Oxfordshire fixture – so those first 80 players will always be able to say: “I was there for the first one.”

City or County?

That’s the big decision.

40 players will represent Oxford City.

40 players will represent Oxfordshire County.

You don’t need to be a brilliant golfer. You don’t need to put together a fourball. And you certainly don’t need to know everyone else taking part.

Any ability. Enter as an individual. Everybody is welcome.

Choose your side, pull on the colours and represent your business alongside some fantastic people from across Oxfordshire.

Raising Funds for Raise

While City and County will be battling it out for The Colin Rosser Cup, The Oxfordshire Golf Challenge will also provide an opportunity to make a difference beyond the golf course.

Throughout the event, we’ll be raising funds for Raise, the B4 initiative supporting local Oxfordshire charities.

There will be opportunities for players, supporters and businesses to get involved in fundraising activities on and around the day, helping us use the occasion to generate both awareness and funds for local charities.

So while there will undoubtedly be plenty of rivalry between City and County, there’s one cause everyone will be playing for together.
